Power BI dashboards and reports for Dynamics 365
The reports we build most often for Business Central and Finance & Operations clients, each shaped around the questions your team actually asks.
Financial & management reporting
Profit and loss, balance sheet, budget versus actual and cash, with drill-down from any variance to the transactions behind it.
Board & funder reporting
Clear dashboards for boards, councils and funders who aren't in Dynamics 365 every day, refreshed from your live data.
Multi-entity & multi-location
Cost per site, budget versus actual and supplier spend across every company and location, in one view.
Sales, purchasing & inventory
Sales trends, purchasing spend, stock levels and inventory value by customer, vendor, item or location.
Projects & job costing
Budgets, actuals, work in progress and profitability for every project or job.
Replacing GP SmartLists & AX SSRS reports
When you move to Business Central or Finance & Operations, we rebuild the reports your team relied on as Power BI dashboards.
How Power BI connects to Business Central and Finance & Operations
Each product connects to Power BI differently. We use Microsoft's supported connections, so your reports keep working through updates.
Dynamics 365 Business Central
Microsoft's free Power BI apps for Business Central cover finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects and manufacturing, and their source code is open. We extend them rather than starting from scratch, and reports can sit inside Business Central role centres.
Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
Finance & Operations includes embedded Power BI workspaces. For your own reports, we connect Power BI to your data through Fabric Link or Azure Synapse Link, the services that replaced Export to Data Lake.
Your other data
Add your CRM, budget spreadsheets or other systems to the same model, so one dashboard tells the whole story.
From the questions you ask to dashboards you use
Power BI work is scoped and quoted separately from your implementation, so you only pay for the reports you want.
Scope
We agree the questions each report must answer, the KPIs behind them and who sees what.

Questions about Power BI for Dynamics 365
Business Central already has reports. Why add Power BI?
Business Central's built-in reports and Excel analysis cover day-to-day work. Power BI adds visual dashboards, trends over time, figures combined across companies and other systems, and reports people can open in a browser, on their phone or in Teams.
What licences do we need?
Microsoft's Power BI apps for Business Central are free to install, but each person who views shared reports needs a paid Power BI licence, unless your organization has a Power BI Premium or suitable Microsoft Fabric capacity. We'll tell you what you need before we build.
Is Power BI part of our implementation?
It can be. Power BI dashboards are scoped and quoted separately, so you only pay for the reports you want, and we can add them during the project or after go-live. See Business Central implementation and F&O implementation.
Can you replace our GP SmartLists or AX SSRS reports?
Yes. When you move from Dynamics GP or AX, we map the reports your team uses and rebuild the ones you still need in Power BI or as standard financial reports. See Upgrade from GP and Upgrade from AX.
Do you build Power BI reports outside Dynamics 365?
Our focus is reporting on Dynamics 365 data. Where a dashboard needs other sources, such as your CRM or budget spreadsheets, we bring them into the same model.
Want dashboards your team will actually use?
A short call scopes the reports you need and what they would cost.
